From Little Chalvedon Hall Farm to Downham Hall Farm – Our Heifer Calves are now grazing the fields at Downham

There have been dairy cows on Little Chalvedon Hall for over 100 years. Our time there began when the former farmer Reg Acres retired and we have been renting the fields for our young heifers for over 30 years. We were very disappointed to have been given notice on the tenancy of the farm this summer and it is with great sadness that our beautiful girls have left Chalvedon for the last time. But when one door closes a new one can open, and we are really excited to be bringing dairy cows back to Downham Hall Farm.

On August 23rd we began the move of the dairy cows and 25 of our young heifers are now grazing the fields at Downham Hall Farm, bringing dairy cows back to the former dairy farm after a gap of a several years.

The heifers were instantly happy with their new surroundings. Although the fields are very dry, there is plenty of grass for them because the fields have not been grazed this year.

Our lovely girls are in the fields next to the footpath and you can say hello to them if you are walking that way.
