Welcome to our fourth Newsletter – a Winter edition produced just before our second Christmas at the dairy.  It’s been a good year for us – we really appreciate your support and hope that you have enjoyed our products over that time.
In this Newsletter - Two new hard cheeses and a Quince Jam - Christmas Opening - Christmas Farmers Markets - New cafes and shops - On the Farm
Two new hard cheeses and a Quince Jam

After some experimentation, we now have two new hard cheeses, the first batches of which have been made in time for Christmas.  Bradfields’ Blackwater is a Gouda style cheese and Bradfields’ Chelmer is our Caerphilly style cheese.  We make these in 1 kilo rounds.  Neither of these have been on sale before. Do ask us if you would like to try a sample.

Another new product is Bradfields’ own Membrillo Quince Jam.  David’s Kitchen, who makes our chutneys, has made this for us from quinces grown on the Farm.  Delicious with our hard and soft cheeses.

Christmas Opening

The shop will be open over the festive period so if you do run out of milk you can pop in. We won’t be pasteurising fresh milk on Christmas Eve or New Years Day, but there will still be plenty of shelf life left on the milk available.

Christmas order collections start from 10am on the 22nd December until 4pm on Christmas Eve!  Why not pop in and say hello and have a hot chocolate or glass of mulled wine with us? The full range of milkshakes and probiotic yogurts will be available for tasters if you haven’t had a chance to try them yet.

Christmas Farmers Markets

In the run up to Christmas, we have been at a Christmas event at Cromwell Manor, Pitsea and went along to a quarterly market at Hatfield Peverel for the first time.  We will do these events in future.   There is also a final farmers market at Leigh-on-Sea on 22nd December and our last weekly London Farmers Market at Blackheath on the 23rd.

New cafes and shops

We have recently started to supply two cafes in Chelmsford with their milk -  newest milk customer Coffee Squared opened their doors at the beginning of December, you can find them at Beaulieu Park, Chelmsford.  Liiane’s Drink Coffee Club also make their coffees with Bradfields farm whole milk.  They are in Baddow Road, Chelmsford.

We are delighted to be supplying our milk to Flour and Spoon Artisan Bakery in Leigh, who opened their doors on 15th December.

On the Farm

Christmas is a very busy time for us in the Dairy and Shop with all of the products being made but, on the farm side it is always busy as the cows still need to be milked twice a day every day of the year,  so there is no time off on Christmas day.  You may have noticed that it’s been pretty wet recently and we have gone from the cows on coconut matting of the summer to something of a bog now.  This makes the winter field work difficult.  The cows wouldn’t want to be out there at the moment on the damp clay.
